1st PORT MORIEN BROWNIES NATURE HIKE

shared by Colleen Spencer

The 1st Port Morien Brownies went on an adventurous nature hike in October 2003.

As we hiked along a trail around a lake in Black Brook, we talked about the importance                                                       of staying together. Among the sightings of interest were sandpipers, blue herons,                                                            and bald eagles. We talked about the environment and how it was important to                                                                  preserve nature for the future.

Each girl was responsible for her own backpack, lunch and sit-upon.                                                                                   They were excited to learn that they were working on badges while they were having                                                         so much fun.

We held a scavenger hunt while on the trail. Remembering the environment, we took                                                            only things that were already on the ground. These items were used to make a picture                                                        frame for each girl and we made a copy of the group photo to put in their frames.

Everyone had a really good time!
