SCHOLARSHIPS 2007-2008

FOR CBU STUDENTS: 

The Cape Breton Coastal/ Cape Breton East Areas Award

$400.00

CRITERIA

  • Recipient must be a member of Girl Guides of Canada

  • Recipient must be registered as a full time student at CBU

  • Recipient must have passing grades in all courses from September-December 2007

This award is the result of the fund set up with pennies collected by Sparks, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers, who attended ‘Up Up and Away’ in 2000. 

Originally a $200.00  annual award, it was changed to $400.00 in 2007.             

Applications are available  at the CBU Scholarship Office.                                        

Closing date for applications is January  2008. 

Exact date in January to be added as soon as it's  known

PROVINCIAL SCHOLARSHIP

CHIEF COMMISSIONER'S EDUCATION SUPPORT FUND 2008

$500.00 annually, paid in two equal installments, September and January

Applications must be received no later than February 28, 2008.  

Late applications and faxes will not be accepted under any circumstances.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS 

Girl Guides of Canada Scholarship 2008

This is a general scholarship available to any registered Member who is applying to or already attending a post-secondary education, on a full-time basis. This includes trade school, community college or university. college  This scholarship has been in place since 1985. The number of scholarships granted is dependent upon funds available.

Each applicant will be rated on:

  • A personal statement on Guiding

  • Two (2) Letters of Reference (one each from inside and outside of Guiding)

  • Her Guiding history

  • Her service and volunteer work inside and outside of Guiding

  • Her additional interests

  • Her marks (although these are important and are evaluated, they are not the                                        focus of the evaluation process)

  • Her employment history 

Application to be received at National office by mail or courier by the deadline.

Roberta Bondar Scholarship 2008

This is a defined scholarship available to any registered Member entering her 3rd                                      or 4th year undergraduate or her post-graduate year in applied science, mathematics,                                 science or technology at a Canadian institution. This scholarship has been in place                                        since 1994 and two $1,500 scholarships are awarded each year.

Application to be received at National office by mail or courier by the deadline.
